PERU AND THE INTERNATIONAL COFFEE ORGANISATION
On 14th December, 2015 Peru enter the ICO as an exporting member country, after more than twenty years of absence, by completing membership procedures under the International Coffee Agreement 2007.
Since then, the Embassy of Peru in the United Kingdom has actively participated in the various meetings of the organization, being the first one the 116th Session of the International Coffee Council (March, 2016, Addis Ababa), followed by the 117th, 118th and 119th Sessions in London.
The role of Peru in the International Coffee Organization responds to the auspicious development of Peruvian coffee sector over the last years, which has positioned our country as one of the world leaders of organic coffee exports known for its high quality and varieties of special flavours.
The increasing demand of Peruvian coffee in the world markets helps more than 225,000 families that rely on this crop and more than 2 million Peruvians who are part of the coffee value chain across 17 regions of the country.
