 OFFICIAL VISIT TO PERU

In February 2017, Irish President Michael D. Higgins payed an official visit to Peru, the first visit of an Irish Head of State.

On that occasion, important agreements were signed, including a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a mechanism for political consultations and a Letter of Intent between the National Programme for Scholarships and Educational Credit (PRONABEC) of Peru and the University College of Cork.

The Peruvian Government has decided to open a resident Embassy in Dublin.

PERU AND IRELAND

The Embassy of Peru in the United Kingdom is also concurrent to Ireland since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1999.

Ambassador Claudio de la Puente presented its credentials to the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins in November 2016 at Aras an Uachtaráin.

On that occasion, Ambassador De la Puente held meetings with senior officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland in order to discuss the bilateral agenda.
