THE EXHIBITION ‘WEAVERS OF THE CLOUDS: TEXTILE ARTS OF PERU’ WAS INAUGURATED AT THE FASHION AND TEXTILE MUSEUM

On 20th June the exhibition preview of ‘Weavers of the Clouds: Textile Arts of Peru’ took place at the Fashion and Textile Museum where it will be portrayed until 8th September 2019.

This fantastic exhibition takes you into a cultural journey of applied crafts, heritage and traditions, celebrating Peru’s traditional textiles and their influence on design and fashion. It explores the processes and practices of both historic and contemporary Peruvian costume via garments, textiles, photographs, tools, illustrations and paintings, dating from pre-Hispanic to present day.

It also includes pieces by contemporary Peruvian fashion designers such as Meche Correa and Chiara Macchiavello, photographs by Sebastian Castaneda Vita, Marta Chambi and Toni Frissell, Peruvian-inspired designs from Vivienne Westwood and Naeem Khan and a broad selection of both traditional and contemporary Peruvian art, produced in a multitude of fascinating mediums.

‘Weavers of the Clouds’ shows Peru’s rich past and the vibrant modernity of its contemporary arts.
